Nuits Saint-Georges, Les Damodes, 1er cru

This premier cru bottling comes from the northern section of Nuits-Saint Georges, neighboring Vosne-Romanée, and as such shares more in character with the soft, elegant wines from across the commune boundary in Vosne than it does with those from within Nuits-Saint Georges but south of the village where the wines are renowned for being sturdy and more tannic.

This elegant fruit driven wine reveals its close proximity to Vosne-Romanee. High toned red fruits (sour cherry in particular) dominate an exuberant nose. Earthy herbal notes of sage underscore the brightness of the fruit, creating a seductive tension of high and low.  The silky texture and soft, barely perceptible tannins lead to a harmonious and delicate finish.
