Nuits-Saint-Georges, La Richemone, 1er cru

This premier cru bottling comes from the northern section of Nuits-Saint Georges, neighboring Vosne-Romanée, and as such shares more in character with the soft, elegant wines from across the commune boundary in Vosne than it does with those from within Nuits-Saint Georges but south of the village where the wines are renowned for being sturdy and more tannic.

If Les Damodes represents a slightly naive yet exuberant femininity, La Richemone exudes confident and seductive masculinity. The nose is dominated by wild, dark fruits and an enticing meatiness. On the palate, La Richemone is wonderfully structured without veering to the austere. The sweetness of the fruit and savory notes give the wine immediate appeal while the finely grained, mouth-coating tannins add weight, texture and depth.
