Pommard 1er Cru, Clos Micaults, 2006

Pommard 1er Cru, Clos Micaults, 2006

The smallest production for the domaine comes from this enclosure located just south of the village, and planted in 1954. The wines from this sector can take on qualities more closely reminiscent of Volnay, the commune immediately to the south, with its expressions of candied cherries, sweet red fruits and a delicate, feminine texture. In Daniel’s hands, it is certainly the case with this wine possessing a style closer in character to Volnay, than the plusher, meatier wines for which Pommard is known.

Possessing a candied nose redolent of blackberry , black raspberry, red currant and macerated cherries, it carries a soft, delicate texture on the palate and outstanding equilibrium likening it more to the feminine wines from Volnay.
