Pommard 1er Cru, Clos des Charmots, 2006

Pommard 1er Cru, Clos des Charmots, 2006

Situated on a slope, just north of the village, exposed fully to the south/south-east, this historic enclosure was planted in the 1930’s and achieves a delightful maturity owing to its unique exposure both to the east and to the south. It’s red, stony earth, is exceptional for drainage and high limestone content gives a distinguished, concentrated wine, racy with lots of mineral and aromatic bouquet.

A nose of raspberries, wild strawberries and a basket of black fruits, along with subtle suggestions of animal hide and an incomparable sweet velvety texture. As with all of the wines from this domaine, the Clos des Charmots weaves together a very rich tapestry of dark, sweet fruits aromas, and exquisite equilibrium balancing muscle with finesse. Beautiful harmony, which will require 3-5 years of aging to reveal all its charms.
