Pernand Vergelesses Village, blanc, 2006

Pernand Vergelesses Village, blanc, 2006

The white wines from the village of Pernand-Vergelesses are noted for their mineral, racy profile, more reminiscent of Chablis than those originating from further south in the Côte de Beaune. The whites from Pavelot are no exception. Originating from the east facing vineyard just south of the village called Sous le Bois de Noël et Belle-Filles et from Les Plantes des Champs et Combottes, looking west, just behind the village.

Everything is here and in delightful balance for this humble wine of modest origin. Taken from several village parcels of varying east and west facing exposures, this Pernand Village blanc displays a distinctive Chablis-like mineral essence of wet-rock, lemon citricity, apple orchard and a gentle toastiness which melts gracefully into the greater whole.  What’s not to like?
