La Compagnie des Papillons Blanc, 2005

La Compagnie des Papillons Blanc, 2005

While world class white wines are not historically associated with the south of France, there is a small band of artisan winemakers from the Roussillon that together are quietly changing that impression. Working several small parcels of Carignan Blanc, Grenache Gris on schist as well as a scattering of Maccabeu and Muscat vines, Lèia has crafted this exquisitely balanced wine which brings together the subtle richness of Carignan with the austerity of Grenache Gris and the delicate fragrance of the remaining varietals. Elegant, refined and very adult. Essence of mandarin and grapefruit zest mist over this pristine crystal clear lake of a wine.
