2008 Cuvée Alexandrine
Alexandrine makes this very unique cuvée which is culled from all of her parcels as she walks the vineyards at harvest and selects only the tiny millerandage grapes, or shot berries which give much higher solid to liquid ratios and therefore produce a more concentrated more structured wine. It is not made every vintage.
Here the nose is much more deeply pitched with attractively ripe and subtly spiced aromas that also display floral hints and include iron-infused warm earth notes as well as animale and underbrush nuances that lead to powerful and delicious medium-bodied flavors of cassis and black cherry that are blessed with ample dry extract that makes for a supple and seductive finale. There is so much sap that this could easily be drunk now though it should amply reward 6 to 10 years of cellar time.
